deep, deep, heavy and super wet.

There were some great stashes of chowder to be had. The melt line was about halfway up Inverness. Above the snow was ridable, below it was cement. Riding the woods was good but a serious work-out. While skating to Brambles, I stepped off the beaten path and ended up to my waist in snow. Yes, that deep.

Sat, 03/24/2012 All over the East

Temperature: 30F
Conditions:

Some ice, some sun, some fog, some sideways snow, and just a touch of powder

Stop me if you have heard this one, two fat old guys head out in a comically small car in search of powder, on the worst snow year ever, on the East coast, in late March. No really, that actually happened, I know as I was there to witness every sorry sad moment of this homerlike quest. For the...

Sun, 02/19/2012 Killington

Temperature: 35F
Conditions:

A perfect late March day, sunny, soft, and warm.

I will always view snowboarding through a lens filtered by my early days at Killington. We all have that influence, the place where we progressed rapidly from just turning to learning tricks, and those experiences with always shape our approach. Some of my fondest memories are centered around...

Sun, 02/12/2012 Whistler Blackcomb

Temperature: 34F
Conditions:

Foggy, variable from top to bottom, light pow over hard pack on top, icy crusty midway, wet at the base.

I wish this was an epic tale of riding at one of the premiere resorts in the world. Unfortunately that just is not the case. While conditions were less than stellar and it could not be classified as a great day, I did have a great time.

Sun, 01/15/2012 Mad River Glen & Sugarbush

Temperature: 2F
Conditions:

12" of fluffy powder on top of 2-3 inches of freshly frozen base. Very cold. Very cold.

Yes. This is the single worst cover photo for a powder report in the history of 7YW. So kids, what did we learn? Charge the f'n battery when it's going to be sub zero, arctic, chill. So the report, sans photos. I pulled off the double pow attack for the second time this season, meeting up...

Thu, 12/29/2011 Mad River Glen & Sugarbush

Temperature: 2F
Conditions:

12-18" of Utah light powder. A surprisingly consistent base. Cold, cold, cold. Light winds in places, pretty epic overall.

The second of 30 poaches will surely go down as one of the best. Our little section of Vermont got thumped unexpectedly* by a massive helping of light powder. *Note: I had tracked this storm on the 7YW weather page since xmas eve and was ready. J-Mac and I met up in the MRG lot at 5:30-6 am. My...

Thu, 11/24/2011 Mad River Glen

Temperature: 29F
Conditions:

Surprisingly good, less water content than expected, 8-12 inches with the heavy stuff on the bottom

With the site rebuild, which has sucked up all of my limited free time, I didn't have a chance to get this ride report up. So here it is, the Thanksgiving Poach.

Sat, 04/09/2011 Squaw Valley

Temperature: 45F
Picking up where I dropped off in part one, I arose on Saturday at the Calgary airport and hopped an early flight to San Francisco. The original scheme was to get to Tahoe to ride on Sunday, cruising back to SF for work on Monday. I quickly appended this plot to include a day of riding on Monday...
