DC Dismantling the Lab

Ken Block-founder (along with Damon Way) of 8 Ball Clothing, Blunt Snowboard Magazine, Droors Clothing and a small entity by the name of DCShoes-started construction on his Park City log abode after selling DC to the Quik empire for somewhere in the neighborhood of $70 plus million (not including preferred stock options). Not too shabby.

It was understood that Block would build a second house on his 22 acre compound for he and his wife. This second dwelling would be home to them whilst team riders, family and other guests stayed in the current residence, otherwise regarded as the epicenter of the DC Mtn. Lab.

''How Many Dreams In The Dark'' by Chris Brunkhart

Board artisan, Chris Brunkhart, is said to be working busily in his Sandpoint, Idaho office on a new book ghostly entitled, How Many Dreams In The Dark?. The assumed focus of the book is to be centered around the creative and prolific types (naturally).

It is very safe to say that there will be many focused eyes anticipating the hopeful release of Brunkhart's book.

Here's to the ones that blend snowboarding's lifestyle with demiurge and real grit.

John Sommers & Awake Snowboards

John Sommers, early 1990's Nor Cal ripper-extraordinaire for Burton and later Allian Snowboards, walked away from a peaking career. Word was he was over the hype, the endless travel and the industry bullshit-who can blame him (if those were in fact the reasons).

Pierre Wikberg Is Working on Beefing Up VHS' Viewership

Da Pierre realizes that he and Eddie Wall have a huge undertaking involved in cranking out continuous VHS webisodes. This leaves little time to push/draw/and create demand for a new start-up, especially in today's shi-conomy.

Pierre and Eddie are supposedly going to team-up with beta site-in-the-works Spatziba to help with the promotion and cross promotion of VHS through other videos/postings... and fashion.

Best of luck-and keep the fun stuff alive.

New Cat Operation

Corey Smith, Smith Optics' Promotions Manager and former pro shred, is heavily rumored to be looking to launch a cat operation in (or outside of) Idaho.

Make it happen, Corey-and invite us!

Robot Food Coming Back?

Some interesting words are swirling from Southern California that Pierre Wikberg, founder of the legendary video movement Robot Food, is talking about resurrecting the production company that delivered Lame and Afterbang. As you all know, Wikberg very recently launched VideoHyperShred with founding partner, Eddie Wall (Weekend/Bond) after leaving DC and Forum with whom he had both worked with for over a decade, due to shrinking budgets.

temple cummins won the LBS without BTX

According to Legendary rider and all-around nice guy, The Tom Burt™, Temple Cummins won the 2010 L.B.S. without his sponsor's main ingredients; Magna-traction and rocker, or BTX.

After asking Mervin Designer and MTX/BTX brain child, Pete Saari, and Mervin Mfg. founder, Mike Olson, if he could have his board made without the bent edges and semi-broken-reduced-running-edge=slowness marketing ploy, both designer and bowl-cut founder responded with a firm-no.
